ΜAED IN TEACHING HUMANITIES AND INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION

Director of Studies: Associate Professor C. Parthenis

Deputy Director: Professor M.-Z. Fountopoulou

The MAEd Program "Teaching Humanities and Intercultural Education" aims to provide high-quality, contemporary postgraduate education in the field of Pedagogy and Educational Sciences. The program focuses on the teaching and assessment of two distinct student populations in co-educational settings:

a) Typical students, characterized by a variety of differences and distinctive features, which is the focus of the Specialization "Teaching Humanities and Educational Evaluation";

b) Students with distinct cultural differences, addressed under the Specialization "Intercultural Education" (Sociocultural and Pedagogical Analysis of Diversity and Human Rights in Education, the Labor Market, and Society).

In this context, the structure and content of the courses in the MA Ed Program are organized into two Specializations:

  • Teaching Humanities and Educational Assessment
  • Intercultural Education (Sociocultural and Pedagogical Analysis of Diversity and Human Rights in Education, the Labor Market, and Society)

The master's program is full-time and requires a minimum duration of four semesters. Upon successful completion of the courses, students in the MA Ed Program will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in "Teaching Humanities and Intercultural Education," specializing in one of the aforementioned areas.

  • In this specific Master's Program (formerly "Theory, Praxis, and Evaluation of Educational Work"), hundreds of educators and several subsequent education executives have participated.
  • Dozens of its graduates are employed in public education, achieving success rates in ASEP competitions of up to 50%, compared to the average of 20% for philologists, while many work in private education.
  • Numerous students and alumni have participated in Greek and international scientific conferences and research programs, with many also completing their doctoral studies. There are also cases of academic careers.
