ORGANISATION OF THE EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE “ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY & CITIZEN SCIENCE: ACTIONS AND PROSPECTS” BY THE EEL-NKUA

The Environmental Educational Lab (EEL-NKUA) organized the  Educational Conference “Environmental Education for Sustainability & Citizen Science: Actions and Prospects”  on the 18.02.2023 at the NKUA Central Hall - Auditorium, Athens. The Conference was attended by 90 teachers and other educational stakeholders. Τhe announcement, the  program  and the poster of the Conference are available  here.

In the first part, Maria Daskolia gave a presentation on “Environmental Education for Sustainability and citizen science. Creative synergies and actions of the Environmental Education Lab in the context of the Cos4Cloud European project. Dimitris Gkotzos talked then about the “Citizen Observatories for Biodiversity and Environmental Quality: digital platforms and apps in the service of Environmental Education for Sustainability”. Naya Grillia gave a presentation on “Integrating citizen science and citizen observatories in Environmental Education for Sustainability: a scope of actions to empower and support teachers”.

In the second part, Anna Trigatzi, Matrona Pappa, and Zacharenia Daskalaki talked about “From theory to practice: educational scenarios for school use”; and Maria Pliota, Katerina Chouliara and Yannis Kostantinidis presented the “Launch of the new Educational Network "Environmental Education for Sustainability and Citizen Science": identity, mission and the website”. In the third and final part, Maria Daskolia, Ioanna Dinou, Varvara Petridou and Vera Vorylla presented and gave the awards for their participation in the Network's schools that implemented educational projects and activities. The Conference closed with a discussion among all participants on the Educational Network’s needs and sustainability prospects led by Maria Daskolia, Naya Grillia and Maria Pliota.
